World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.
Upgrades to gear in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests Each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's base stats increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of its leveled up perks (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that must be changed in order to upgrade an item.
The level of an item is a widely used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips of items. It can also be used to determine a gating condition when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to an lower level). Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.
Utilizing the level of an item can help players evaluate the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a good indicator of an item's quality and how much damage it is able to deal. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller can be done by using the level of the item.
The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full item description, including its level. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are several theories about how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It considers that different benefits are valued differently and that gems found in sockets increase the value of the item. This can result in a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.
item upgrading 's not the only factor that affects the level of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance it can increase the item's haste or crit score. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher ilvl.
Item Stats
Item stats can make or break an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat mods of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's skill.
Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.
Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can do things like give the item extra damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by adding an exclusive name to the item.
At present, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circles arrows. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will have at least one stat within the range, unless they are an item that is unique or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.
This is another aspect that can be modified by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. Similar to base equipment, it will have to be done per item and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats simultaneously.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players a chance to acquire better gear in earlier waves and is thus more useful in the early game than later ones because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item. It is also possible to be increased with the use of anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that is able to deal damage by five percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or created with the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be costly and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.
When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading the item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the probability of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%.
The success of an upgrade is also affected by the Luck of that item. All items have a success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5percent.
Note that item upgrade s are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
